Prodigy® C2648 High-Capacity Cuber Offers Increased Reliability

VERNON HILLS, Ill. — February 10, 2011 — Scotsman Ice Systems, the premier innovator of energy-efficient ice technology, announced the Scotsman Prodigy C2648 high-capacity cuber is slated to be featured at the What’s Hot! What’s Cool! new product gallery at the NAFEM Show 2011.

Introduced in 2010, the Energy Star-rated C2648 is the only ice machine equipped with Prodigy smart monitoring technology and capable of producing more than a ton (up to 2,600 pounds) of cubed ice in 24 hours. Scotsman Prodigy ice machines run longer and more efficiently due to monitoring and diagnostic capabilities.

“The Scotsman Prodigy Cuber C2648 offers energy efficiency and reliability for high-volume foodservice applications,” said Terry Toth, marketing communications manager at Scotsman Ice Systems. “The self-monitoring and diagnostic features of Prodigy ice machines ensure ice is available when it is needed.”

Innovative products showcased in What’s Hot! What’s Cool! must be new concepts or updates to existing products, available for sale after Feb. 8, 2009. Products chosen demonstrate a strong value proposition to the foodservice industry such as energy efficiency, food safety, labor saving, eco-friendly materials and reduced footprint.

The C2648 is considered “lead-free” according to the California Health and Safety Code Section 118875. Additionally, the C2648 complies with the U.S. Federal Safe Drinking Water Act, amended in January 2011, and the Vermont Act 193.

Known for their advanced technology and self-monitoring systems, Prodigy products offer operators up-to-the-minute reporting on their machine’s performance as well as maintenance needs. The machines visually indicate the ice production mode and signal when routine maintenance is required. An external diagnostic light panel makes it easy for anyone in the kitchen, from senior chefs to servers, to read and understand Prodigy equipment. When the Prodigy line was launched in 2007, the National Restaurant Association recognized it with a Kitchen Innovations award.
